Columbia University Center for Precision Medicine and Genomics

Hila Milo Rasouly, PhD

Dr. Hila Milo Rasouly is an Assistant Professor of Medical Sciences and the Associate Director of Education at the Center for Precision Medicine and Genomics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She is a former genetic counselor with a PhD in genetics and genomics focused on kidney development from Boston University.

She has extensive experience in precision medicine research. As part of eMERGE-3, she published multiple network-wide studies. She also developed and validated a novel genetic literacy screening tool (GeneLiFT).

As the Associate Director of Education at the Center for Precision Medicine and Genomics, Dr. Milo Rasouly has directed many continuous medical education courses (CMEs) for clinicians interested in clinical genetics. She is also leading the center’s summer internship program.

She co-chaired the working group on “Achieving Implementation in Clinical Medicine” as part of a KDIGO meeting on the genetics of CKD (KI 2022). Following this meeting she also presented an online webinar on the challenges of the implementation of genetic testing in nephrology. She was also part of the American Society of Transplantation's “Living Donation/Living Donor Transplantation Genetics” workgroup and published recommendations on the genetic evaluation of living donors (AJKD 2023).

Her research focuses on the equitable implementation of genetic testing in nephrology. She is looking at the barriers and facilitators of genetic utilization in nephrology using a mixed methods approach, including using surveys, interviews and focus groups. Her full list of published work can be found here and selected publications can be found below.
